Baby on Raft on River Recovered

Reports of a baby in a floating raft on the Stanislaus River Monday morning brought rescue boats from both Ripon and Manteca fire departments to search for the child who was said to be somewhere south of the Caswell State Park Beach at the extension of Austin Road.

The location of parents was not detailed or how the baby got in the raft but the rescue crews worked for over an hour searching for the child finding it without any serious incident, it was noted over an emergency radio transmission.

It was shortly after the Ripon boat crew entered the cold river that the Manteca crew joined in the search that had reportedly extended beyond Willow Beach.
